Welcome to my visual arts portfolio. While browsing this site, you'll see a small sample of some of the visual arts work I did while studying education at Nipissing University and during my first undergraduate degree in architecture.
A Brief Philosophy of Art Education
All children have the ability to be creative and I view myself as being a facilitator for students as they learn to apply knowledge and skills learned in class, to express their creativity. The teaching of visual arts to primary and junior grade students helps them to grow intellectually, socially, physically, and emotionally.
My goal as a visual arts teacher is to teach students that there are multitudes of ways to express themselves through the visual arts. There are sometimes situations and obstacles in life that require the expression of opinions, overcoming obstacles, and defending judgements. Visual arts can be an effective vehicle for that personal expression. Students should understand that each of us embodies an individualism unique to our self, and we should explore and understand our own uniqueness.
Art, like life, is a process of constant learning, adapting, and evolving. I see art as being an open expression of individualism through formalistic and expressive mediums. I feel an essential part of teaching the arts to students is demonstrating that you are not afraid to express yourself through various forms of visual art. As such, please enjoy browsing through my art portfolio on this site.
I hope you enjoy this small sampling of artwork.
